Our February 2013 weekend Spiritualbirth workshop was sublime as we each embarked on spiritual journeys of self discovery and mutual recognition under the summer sky. A journey that began with intense theory culminated in a symbol of love and unity chosen by one of the Dad’s for his unborn baby.
Breakfast was a sumptuous feast for the senses as we sat around the verandah table with a view to die for. Attentive listening and active thinking and feeling resulted in fruitful workshop sessions over the course of the two days. One of these sessions involved the use of language used around birth and women’s bodies.
So much of modern language usage around birth is scary. Words like contraction, delivery, pain, perineum, supine, stirrups, tearing, blood, rupture of sac, all invoke a fear response and induce anxiety around the birth process. So we brainstormed for words that are suited to pregnancy and the process of giving birth and came up with the following list:
Two very special days of sharing and discovery came to an end with an exchange of gifts found in the natural surroundings, including the flowering bulb of Haemanthus Sanguineus, our Yoni Flower that bursts into flame after the first Autumn rain. We celebrated the presence of three new beings coming into our lives and bestowed blessings on each mother and baby pair. A spiral shell, symbol of Love and Unity was gifted to Helda by Mario for their as yet unborn baby, and each mother received prayers from us all.
